Ivor’s Daily Gallivant Friday November 3, 2023 To Do List (1) Lucie Mann coming to photograph paintings. (It’s going to be sometime next week) (2) Sort out online banking Southampton (done) (3) Write an email to St Andrews describing myself. (Done but it turned out not necessarily) (4) Make cabbage and cashew salad. (Made and eaten but with key ingredients missing) Once again, I couldn’t sleep through the night as I had slept in the early evening. I made today’s To Do List and sent Lucie a message about my plans for the day. I spotted that my friend Julie Hope had recommended a MasterClass course by Noam Chomsky called ‘Thinking for Yourself’ and I purchased it and watched. It is about how the media is controlled by Government and Big Business, and how Facebook offers the opportunity for people to reinforce their prejudices, rather than giving balanced arguments. The piece finished on a positive note that ‘All of the world’s problems can be solved if the right things are done.’ There was a phone call about getting a grant of £7000 towards the cost of a heat pump unfortunately I needed to contribute £3000 towards the cost. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the money. I would have liked a shower but with the water cut off the best I could do was boil water and wipe myself down with a j- cloth mask dipped in it. It was a slow process but when I’d finished, I felt good, and was proud of my ingenuity in dealing with the problem. With no milk for my tea, I ran to the Coop and found more bottles of water had been left on my doorstep. I think they were left because I’m on the priority list. I started watching a MasterClass about food but went to Southampton to sorted out my bank account, before finishing it. There was a queue of cars that ended at Applemore Tesco waiting for water from Applemore Leisure Centre. When I got in, I made a cabbage and cashew salad from a recipe which I got from Veg World but forgot to include spring onions, honey or maple syrup and lime juice which would have made it completely different. By the telephone was the form which I should have taken with me on Thursday for my blood test. I pinned it to my notice board and made a note to make an appointment on Monday. The email newsletter from St. Andrews mentioning the possibility of commissioning painting of local churches arrived. Perhaps someone will have one done.
