Ivor’s Daily Gallivant

Thursday October 12, 2023

The day started off well with my alarm sounding at 7.00 am, when I got up and went for a run round the block and had a shower, and felt great afterwards. Today was the day of the launch event for my exhibition at October Books.

Breakfast was a bowl of granola with raisins and almonds with a cup of tea. For lunch I had an egg mayonnaise sandwich.

I felt tired after my run so set my timer for an hour and had a nap before setting out.

I caught the bus and it’s card reader wasn’t working, the driver queried if it was my bus pass. He said I look a lot older than the picture on the pass but he let me travel.

During the journey I tried to work out how old the photo was, and didn’t know it must have been over twelve years since it was taken.

When I got to Portswood I had a Chilli con Carne in Poppins, with a coffee. The food was okay but it was a small portion, expensive for what it was, and gave me diarrhoea. (or perhaps it was the egg sandwich I had earlier in the day)

When I got to October Books, I met Clare who made me a cup of tea. My exhibition had a small audience. (It was a question of quality rather than quantity of person) So far I’ve sold a few of my postcards and a portrait sketch but am a long way from reaching my break even point.

Much to my delight I discovered The Gallivant has more readers than I imagined….Thanks folks any support and encouragement is greatly appreciated.

I thought I was going to have a long and tortuous bus ride home with a couple of long waits at rain drenched bus stops for good measure. But my luck was good and Rick who I often chat with on messenger gave me a lift home.

I invited him in for tea and we had a chinwag and he said he would try and fix my windows.

Although not an ideal outcome, it was a pleasant evening, I’m glad my artwork has been seen, and if I sell one of my paintings I will make an overall profit.
