Ivor’s Daily Gallivant Wednesday October 4, 2023 After another sleepless night. I decided to go to bed and sleep until midday when I planned to go to October Books. The Pin arrived for my new bank card so I thought I would be able to get my haircut this afternoon. Finally, I didn’t go to October Books today. At about midday, fed up with having no milk for my tea I ran and to the Co-op and bought some, along with a chicken and bacon pasty and an avocado from the reduced section. Early this morning Dan messaged me and said he’d been laid low after having his booster Covid jab. I thought it best to cook and freeze some food so that if I was laid low after my jab I wouldn’t have to bother with food preparation. In the process of making a note of this I realised my Covid jab was on the October 12 the same day as my exhibition launch day. I attempted to reschedule the jab, but the NHS website was down, so I put a note on my organiser to try again tomorrow. I phoned St. John’s Hall in Hythe and left a message on their answering machine about hiring a table for Hythe Market on Tuesday. So, I can sell sketch portraits of people there. I needed some J-cloths and ran to the One Stop in the precinct to buy some and bought a couple of pork pies and a Mars bar. And checked my balance it was about £30. My pension is due on Friday but it’s cutting things fine. Next, cleared out the dish washer and took three pairs of trousers that were out to, dry in and cooked some curry as I had two sweet potatoes in the fridge which I didn’t want to go to waste. I felt so tired, there was so much to do, it was never ending, always more things to do. No time for anything but work…. life had always been like this…. things half done. It was halfway through the first week of October and another day was drawing to a close. My mood lifted as I cooked and once the meal was ready, I felt much more like my old self.
